This OpportunityWSP USA is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to join our Transportation and Infrastructure team. The position will be based out of WSP's Minneapolis, Minnesota office and support client programs both locally and nationally.This position will be responsible for providing technical support and consultation for multiple project control functions including scheduling, estimating, cost control, document control and project management information systems. This position supports the technical aspect of project development and delivery in transportation, rail and transit and infrastructure functional areas. The Project Controls Specialist applies advanced project controls techniques to maintain scope, schedule and cost controls across large programs. As the local project controls practice grows, you will be asked to mentor, direct, and oversee the work of earlier career staff.Our ideal candidate has strong technical capabilities, advanced client relationship skills, a commitment to quality, and a desire to expand our market offerings. With us, you can!Your ImpactSupport Project Manager and Project Controls Manager for all matters relating to planning/scheduling, cost/budget control, change management and scope/change control and estimating for assigned projectsResolve issues and provide consistency between the scheduling, cost control, and scope/change control functions and deliverablesWork with project controls team, covering scheduling, cost estimating, document control, and change managementPrepare construction cost estimates utilizing contractor style estimates using labor, materials and equipment during design and for construction change ordersReview and assess monthly progress schedule updates on active projects and advise client on disposition of the progress schedule updateDevelop and prepare project control reports with corrective action plans when requiredAssist in the development of project controls dashboards and reporting methodsMonitor progress and calculate performance metrics, analyze and report variances to plan based on predetermined variance thresholdsWho You AreMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field7+ years of relevant experience working on major infrastructure programsProject Management, schedule or cost management certification through PMI or AACEiProject Controls experience working as client's agent providing program management or construction management servicesKnowledge of and experience in schedule preparation, schedule integration and schedule critical pathKnowledge of cost management systems and practicesExperience in scope/change management and claims mitigation and forensic analysisExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conductProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policiesPerforms other duties as assignedPreferred QualificationsRegistered Professional Engineer in Minnesota or ability to obtain within 3 monthsExperience with Earned Value Management (EVM) development, implementation and analysisAdvanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerBI, SharePoint)Proficiency in Primavera P6 / Microsoft Project a plusAbout WSPWSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
